Going to DM the D&D game in an hour. All but two characters will be new. Why? Because when you're told in advance the crew of the Sinister Albatross is composed entirely of liches, it should really be a clue that you're not supposed to fight your way through the encounter.

A) The IQ of the party is the IQ of its stupidest member / (the number of party members ^ the amount of adrenaline currently running around in their systems (LARP only))

B) When you talk your way out of the ridiculously hard encounter clearly put there to test your RP skills (or in the one case when I managed to talk our party out of so many fighting encounters the refs had to put more monsters in), there will always be some fucking idiot who accuses you of cowardice for it. And another fucking idiot who tries to kick off anyway. In both cases you will usually be able to guess who it's going to be and hopefully quietly club them around the head.
